Code Club

Computer coding club for P5, P6 and P7

Code Club is on Mondays and Thursdays from 3.15pm to 4.15pm.  Code Club is a nationwide coding club for 9 - 13 year olds.  Our club is run by Mrs Sim who is a Raspberry Pi certified educator and Microsoft Innovative Educator.  We use Scratch, HTML, CSS, Sonic Pi and Python to make games, websites, animations and music.  We also make things with Raspberry Pis and Microbits. We aim to be creators, not just consumers, of computer games!

In October 2015 we were honoured to became Scotland's 2nd "Star Code Club".

Since then we have become a little bit famous and had lots of visitors!

On 17th June 2016, our awesome P7 team 'Codebank' - Erin, Maham, Jamie and Ziad won first prize in the Dundee Games Jam held at Dundee University.  They had to design and code a game as well as pitch their idea to a team of experts.   Their game was called 'Peesevenitis - The Cure' and it was designed to educate P7s how to cope with the end of primary school. The team produced amazing graphics and 3 levels of working code. They problem solved, worked as a team against the clock and their presentation skills were superb. Having reached the top three by lunchtime, they were crowned winners after a vote by all the children attending.

In April 2017 we won the Dundee City Safer Internet Day Animation Challenge, with two of our teams coming joint first!

On 11th May 2017 our new 'Codebank' Team - Dawid, Maeve, Josh and Tiegan (& Jessica in NY!) won first prize again in the Dundee Primary School's Games Jam!  In an incredibly tough competition they were crowned winners after a morning of coding, problem solving and technical difficulties!
