House Captains

Meet our team of House Captains.  They each have a buddy group of P1 - P7s to organise in school - Emerald, Jade, Crimson, Scarlet, Cobalt, Sapphire, Lemon and Gold.   They also help Staff in many ways during the school day.

Names and Notes!

It would help us reunite belongings if you could name every item with a permanent marker. Coats, shoes and gym shoes, shorts and t-shirts, schoolbags and gym bags, jumpers and cardis, pinafores and trousers....even water bottles, lunch boxes and schoolbags!  We hope to end the year with no unclaimed, lost items.  Thank you!

Please remember to check your child's schoolbag daily for letters and notes that we send home. These will contain important information that we don't want you to miss.  Thanks!

Codebank success at Games Jam

Our P7 team of coders - Ziad, Erin, Jamie and Maham, had a fantastic day at the School of Computing in Dundee University on Friday.

They competed against 60 children from 15 schools in Dundee to create a computer game in two and a half hours.  Following judging by industry experts three teams went to a presentation and voting round.  In this round the teams had to present their game to all the children and adults in the lecture theatre. There was then an electronic vote. There was very stiff competition from Claypotts Castle and Craigowl in the final vote, but Rosebank were the winners!

They were presented with the Games Jam Trophy, prizes and cerificates.  Later they appeared on STV news and they were also in the Courier.  Congratulations on Twitter came from as far away as Code Club in Australia!

The win is a tribute to their teamwork, planning, concentration, graphic skills, coding knowledge, problem solving and confident speaking.  All skills for life and work which were in evidence throughout the competition.  Well done team Codebank!

Library Books

Library Books

Ready for new homes!

Thanks to a generous grant from Coldside Community Forum we have begun the revamp of our school library.  We are indebited to Anne Leslie from Dundee Library Service who has gone through all our books to advise what needs updating and replacing.

The books we have removed have been given to the children to keep.  All children chose books to take home on Friday, please do not send these back to school!  The remaining books have been given to Oxfam.

Watch out for more updates on our new and improved library, it's very exciting!

P4/3 up the Law

P4/3 have been taking a look at Dundee from the vantage point of the Law.  They made sketches and saw the bridges over the Tay, RRS Discovery and lots of other Dundee landmarks.  You can see some more pictures in their class gallery.
