P3 parents - School meals in P4

Once children reach P4 they don't automatically get their school meals provided free of charge.  Some families may be able to continue to have free meals, however you will need to apply for them.  Follow the link below to access the form which can be submitted online. Contact our school and family support worker John, at school for help or more info if needed.

Author Pamela Butchart opens our new library

We opened our fabulous new library today with the help of author Pamela Butchart.  We have redesigned, redecorated and restocked our library with a generous £5000 grant from Coldside Regeneration Fund, and our library is now a place the children love to come and read!  Also in attendance were councillors Helen Wright and David Bowen, mambers of Coldside Forum, members of our parent council, staff and children from each class.  We combined this event with World Book Day and had the most wonderful day full of reading and fun. You can see lots of pictures here on our Twitter feed.

Here is a gallery of photos from the day.

V&A Dundee 'Topping Out' Ceremony

Today two Rosebank pupils were among the very first children ever to visit the V&A in Dundee.  They took part in the Topping Out ceremony where a tree is lifted by crane to the highest point of the building.  The tree will be planted in the grounds of the V&A before the opening in 2018.  The children were shown around the site and gave the order to the crane by radio.  You can read more here.

There are more photos from the event in P5/4's Gallery.

Digital Schools Award Ceremony

Following our success in becoming Dundee's very first Digital School Award winner, we travelled to Wormit PS to recieve our plaque from Minister Shirley Ann Somerville.

Two P7 pupils accompanied Mrs Stanfield and Mrs Sim to accept the award on behalf of the school. You can find out more about what it means to be a Digital School here.

The press release about the event is here.

Football latest

Rosebank played their last home game of the season at DISC vs St Vincent's RCPS.  It was a fast paced and exciting match which saw the visitors win by 8 goals to 4. The boys as always displayed good sportsmanship and were still smiling by the end of the game having scored four good goals.  We are indebted to Mr Sullivan for acting as coach during our matches as our Wednesday training coaches are students, they cannot attend matches during the day.  We also wish to thank Josh the Head Boy at Morgan Academy for stepping in as referee.  Josh is manager of Morgan's first year team and did a great job of officiating at our game.  Thank you Josh!

New School Building Begins!

Now that Robertson's have begun the foundation work for our new school on Alexander Street, we have had Jane Elder to talk to the children about the new school and most importantly site safety.

Jane will return during the build to keep the children updated and to answer their questions.  If you haven't seen the plans yet, pop into school as they are on display in reception.

Digital Schools Award

We are delighted to announce that following a successful validation visit today, we have become Dundee's very first Digital School!  We will receive the award at a ceremony on 22nd February, so watch out for more news soon!

You can read more about what it means to be a Digital School here.

V and A Bonnet makers Design Project

If you know someone in P5/4 be sure to ask them about the V & A Bonnetmakers Project!  The class went with pupils from Our Ladys RC PS today to the Vision Building where they had a design jam, making hats.  Real hats designed by the children are being produced by milliners and will be on parade soon!

Water Bottles

Please can we remind you that children may have a water bottle for use in class.  Juice, fruit shoots, flavoured water, cans etc. are not permitted.  A refillable bottle, labelled with the child's name can be kept in class and we will send these home for cleaning periodically.  Thank you for your co-operation!

Dudhope Castle

Primaries one and two had a walk down to Dudhope Castle as part of their new Castles topic.  They were able to get a close up look and had lots of things to think about when they came back to school.
