P7/6 at Britain's Got Talent

Rosebank Street Drummers aka P7/6, performed wonderfully well at the SEC in Glasgow on Sunday and went through to the second, filmed audition.  They will know whether they have progressed to the next round by 10th February.  Fingers crossed, but we are so proud of them whatever the result!  Thanks to Aspire tutors Ricky Linn and Ross Nicoll for all their hard work, and thanks to the parents and staff who accompanied the children to Glasgow. Next stop....London?!

More photos in their class gallery.

First football match of the season

Rosebank played Craigowl in the first round of the Junior Sports Cup on Wednesday 8th November.  Despite the wind and rain and playing a MUCH bigger school the team were amazing.  They kept their spirits up and played with enthusiasm to the final whistle.  The final score was 6:1 to Craigowl and the team were praised by Craigowl for their excellent sportsmanship.  We will move on to our league matches now and look forward to some great games.

Look out for action photos in the Weekend Evening Telegraph on Saturday 11/11/17 and in the Dundee and DUFC programmes as photographers and sponsors were in attendance!

Parents and carers are invited to help assess the impact of the Aspire Music Program.  We have been taking part with weekly music tuition from a team of visiting music instructors for 4 years now, so your feedback would be much appreciated.  The link to take part is

Lieutenant Hugh McKenzie VC, DCM, CROIX de GUERRE

In our reception area is this plaque in memory of a very brave soldier who died 100 years ago today at the battle of Passchendaele in Belgium.  Hugh McKenzie was a pupil at Rosebank in the 1890s and you can find out more about this brave former pupil HERE.

Have a look at his memorial next time you are in school.

New Head Teacher

We said farewell to Mrs Weir on Thursday as she returns to St Joseph's having been our Acting Head Teacher since Mrs Stanfield's departure in May.  Mrs Weir has looked after Rosebank with huge professionalism and we wish her all the very best for the future.

On Monday 30th October 2017 Mrs J Heffell takes over as Head Teacher, coming to us from Dens Road PS. We look forward to welcoming Mrs Heffell to Rosebank.

National Award for Mrs Sim

Mrs Sim was presented with a special award by deputy first minister John Swinney, at the prestigious Women in Technology Awards on Thursday 26th October.  Mr Swinney praised Mrs Sim's committment to engaging children in technology and in teaching the digital skills vital for the economy and jobs in the twenty first century.

It is amazing to have Rosebank's work recognised nationally and Mrs Sim dedicated her award to all the Rosebank children who have become fabulous digital creators rather than just consumers.

Joint playtimes with Our Lady's RCPS

As part of our transition to the new school campus we had our first joint playtime with the children and adults from Our Lady's.  It was a great success with the children making new friends and playing happily together.  Next time we will walk along to their playground for a play date!

Library Event

Thanks to everyone who came to the Library Club's Autumn book event!  It was a great success with lots of families joining us for stories, crafts and juice!

We are planning a similar afternoon for Halloween, stay tuned!

Halloween Discos

We would like to thank the Parent Council for organising the Halloween Discos which were a resounding, spooky, success!  Amazing costumes from everyone, thanks so much for all your hard work and effort!  Some photos are in the class galleries and look out in the Evening Telegraph and in their photosales online, as their photographer was in attendance on the night.   Happy Halloween!

The band performing.

The P7/6 Samba Band will be travelling to Glasgow on Sunday 12th November to audition for ITV's Britain's Got Talent!  The trip has been organised by Aspire Dundee's tutor Mr Ricky Linn who has taught the children, and formed them into a band over the last couple of years.  They are sure to make a big impression!
