Britain's Got Talent

The band performing.

The P7/6 Samba Band will be travelling to Glasgow on Sunday 12th November to audition for ITV's Britain's Got Talent!  The trip has been organised by Aspire Dundee's tutor Mr Ricky Linn who has taught the children, and formed them into a band over the last couple of years.  They are sure to make a big impression!

P2 Site Visit

P2 became the very first children to step inside the new Coldside Campus when they visited on Thursday 14th September.  After donning hard hats and high visibility vests they set off on a tour with staff from Robertson's Group who are building the new schools.  You can see more pictures in their class gallery.  There will be opportunities for more visits for other classes as the build progresses. Robertson's will be coming into school during the year to work with all the children on some exciting building projects.

P4 at DUFC

P4 are taking part in Dundee United Football Club's Community Education project this year with eight sessions at Tannadice.  For an idea of the project you can see how the children of Den's Road Primary got on last year HERE.

Literacy, numeracy, health & wellbeing are all targeted with weekly visits to the club and a wide variety of activities.  See their class gallery for photos.

This Festival for P5-7

On Friday 8th September Primaries 5 -7 visited This Festival.  They met games developers and designers from Abertay and UoD. They  played new and retro games from pinball machines to virtual reality.  They heard talks from DC Thomson on the production of gaming magazines and from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design on animation degree courses.  You can see photos in the class galleries.

We would like to thank the organisers and Jenni McKay from DCC Digital learning for inviting us to attend.  It was a very enjoyable and informative morning.

Flower and Food Festival

Having prepared their entries for the competitions, P2 - P7 visited Dundee Flower and Food Festival at Camperdown Park on Friday 1st September.  They were delighted to find they had won prizes in several categories!

We are very grateful to the parents/carers who volunteered their time to come along and help.

Please see HERE for 8 dates when Monday Code Club will be on a Tuesday!  Many thanks.

VIP visitors

On Tuesday we welcomed some VIPs to see the variety of digital and computing skills we have developed in our young learners. The six visitors were made up of a range of VIPs in charge of the documentation and development of the Forth Rail Bridge and Queensferry Crossing.
They left saying they had been completely inspired by the children's skills, knowledge and creativity.  Well done Aqsa, Conor, Taylor, Allanis, Neve and Marks for showing your superb learning.

Discovery Tea Party

10 of our children were VIPs onboard RRS Discovery on Friday.  There was a special tea party for them to say 'thank you' for our help with crowd funding for the new masts and rigging.  The boys and girls posed for press photos and were filmed for STV news before tucking into scones, cakes and fruit.  They were fascinated by old Pathe news reels showing Discovery in Antarctica and London many years before she returned to Dundee!
